You Were Right

Not long ago several loved ones who I’d rather not name but will–Seth, Heather, Jess–made fun of me for thinking that in order to take advantage of a supermarket’s “10 for $10″ sale, I had to buy 10 of the item on sale. I stand by my belief that you can never have too much barbecue sauce, however, on a recent trip to the Try & Save, I decided to ask the customer service rep to put this debate to a rest. It turns out, much to the enjoyment of the customer service rep, that the afore mentioned loved ones were right. I could still get my bottle of bloody mary mix for a dollar without buying 10 of them.

I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.

  2. Good of you to admit you were incorrect.

At first glance I thought the same thing, but the “Save At Least 16 cents on 4″ lets you know you don’t have to buy ten to take advantage of the savings ;)

I like to ask customer service reps what aisle I can get off in.

    You know. The bug repellent.

They also enjoy it when you ask them where you can find ‘dates’.

Did you know that you can also ask for a coupon “rain check” when a store is out of a discounted item? My Grandma used to do it all the time.

  5. Smoochies says:

Wouldn’t looking at your receipt be easier than asking the customer service lady?

  6. Jeff says:

Vicious – I’m not good with the math so that 16 cents thing means nothing to me.

    Lioux – that’s a great idea. I’m on it.

Kitty – That sounds like a lot of work.

Smoochies – No. No that wouldn’t be easier.

Oh this post takes me back to when we asked the customer service lady at the mall how to properly pronounce pinnocle.

Anonymous – I was right that time!

I always wonder about this. I think it might differ from store to store. Also, I think my friends and I used to “bug” Lioux with silly questions like the ones he mentioned, when he worked at a supermarket.

I love the Twist & Shop. How many bottles of BBQ sauce do you still have?

  11. Jeff says:

Colleen – bugging Lioux at a supermarket sounds like fun.

JDizzle – I have plenty of BBQ sauce. How much do you have?
